Vocals: @harkathon’s 2nd Record Club at @leedsmusichub

The second meeting of  Katie Harkin‘s Record Club at the Leeds Music Hub was all about vocals. The idea was to get us all thinking about traditional and non-traditional concepts of what makes a ‘good’ singer – we talked about pitch accuracy, timbre, style, lyrics, accents, language barriers and more!

Leeds Music Hub

For anyone who would like to delve into some audio/visual material on vocals and vocalists, there were some great suggestions of documentaries and films, including BBC Radio 4’s “The Countertenor“, BBC 3’s Irish Rap programme  and documentaries “Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap”, “The Devil and Daniel Johnston, “Fleetwood Mac: Don’t Stop”.

We’ll be announcing the meeting date for next month shortly on our websitefacebook and twitter but, if you want to get ahead on your reading/listening homework, the theme for the third meeting is already set: “Duos and Duets”.

This playlist is made up from each of the Record Club members’ choices.
