Leeds MathsJam by @fearfulpenguin

There are a surprising number of good songs about mathematics – narrowing it down to just 10 was actually more difficult than I thought it would be! However, as we are called MathsJam it seemed only right to start with Bob Marley’s Jammin’. I tried to pick a selection of different types of songs for the other 9 – I hope you enjoy!

There are many MathsJams spread around the country – I co-run the Leeds one. It is an informal meeting of people who enjoy maths to meet, have a few drink and share puzzles and the like! You can find out more at www.mathsjam.com

If you enjoy the playlist and fancy finding out what MathsJam is all about, we meet on the second to last Tuesday of every month at Dock St Market – the next meeting is 17th April – hope to see you there!

Listen on Spotify

1. Jammin’ – Bob Marley
2. Mathematics – Little Boots
3. We Can Work It Out – The Beatles (had to use a tribute band on Spotify though!)
4. Count Me Out – Blood Red Shoes
5. Lobachevsky – Tom Lehrer
6. Addition by Subtraction – Ben Weasel
7. Seven – They Might Be Giants
8. The Calculation – Regina Spektor
9. Mandelbrot Set – Jonathan Coulton
