Hello everyone, I’m Woody and I’m the co-director of Minicine.
We have a film screening coming up at the lovely little Palace Picturehouse, located in Armley Mills Industrial Museum, on Thursday 23rd of August and as it is a film all about music, we thought we’d tell you about it through the magic of song.
We’ll be showing Bahman Ghobadi’s ‘No One Knows About Persian Cats’ which isn’t actually about cats but is about outlawed Iranian indie rockers raging against the machine and hosting underground gigs. Literally underground.
Now, a few people have already voiced their disappointment at the film’s lack of feline content so to make up for it I’ve whipped up a little playlist all about cats. And not just the small domesticated Whiskas-eating one either, it takles some big pussies too. Miaow!
Tracklistings:
- David Bowie “Cat People (Putting Out Fire)”
- Phoebe Buffay “Smelly Cat”
- Harry Chapin “Cats In The Cradle”
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Gold Lion”
- Survivor “Eye Of The Tiger”
- The Cure “The Lovecats”
- Tom Jones “What’s New Pussycat?”
- All Seeing I feat. Tony Christie “Walk Like A Panther Tonight”
- Lulu “I’m A Tiger”
- Squeeze “Cool For Cats”
Hope you enjoy the playlist and if you’d like to join us on the 23rd please visit minicine.bigcartel.com for tickets.
If you haven’t been to a Minicine event at the Mills before, the cinema is a cosy 30′s-style 26-seater cinema and as well as the feature presentation we also offer a brief programme of short films as well as tea, coffee and homemade cake for you to enjoy whilst you’re watching the film. Now doesn’t that just sound wonderful? The show starts at 7PM and we hope to see you then.
